A study on statistical quality control has been done by a group of academics from a major University. The purpose of the research paper is to analyze grinding process factors which affect the quality of moving parts by applying statistical techniques in the field of mechanical machine tools. Also, a study of the results of a similar test of finished products under various combinations of grinding process factors is also done.

The main objective of this study is to show the correlation between statistical quality control techniques and grinding process factors. In addition, it is also used as an opportunity to prove that the results of the test of finished products under the specific combinations are directly influenced by the factors. Hence, this study will help in better understanding the effect of grinding process factors on the results of the testing.

Grinding machinery is used in various industries to cut metals. As it works, it can produce wear and tear on the machines used. This wear and tear are the result of grinding and also from the moving parts that come along with it. A study has been conducted by the faculty of engineering at the University to analyze the connection between grinding machine and the results of quality testing. The results have shown that there is a direct relationship between the grinding and quality testing process factors and the quality of grinding products.

High quality performance of a product is usually dependent on the manufacturing process. For example, when a product undergoes continuous grinding and drilling operation, it will develop wear and tear which will eventually affect its quality. When it undergoes constant grinding operation, the quality and performance level will decline because the quality of the metal will deteriorate gradually.

However, when the same product is subjected to two processes, the results show that it will reach a high level of performance after the first process is completed. This shows that the quality level of quality products increases significantly after they have undergone high grinding and drilling operations.

Grinding machines can have different types of grinding operations. There are reciprocating and sliding type of grinders, which are made up of moving parts. Reciprocating type of grinders use a screw-driven grinding wheel that is used to grind metal as opposed to rotating or spinning wheels. These are more expensive in comparison to sliding type which has a belt-driven grinding wheels. These types of grinding machines are usually used for high speed applications.

Grinding machines have two types of rotating machines: fixed and variable. Fixed types of rotating machines have a larger motor size compared to variable type machines that have a smaller motor size.

High speed grinding machines tend to be used for heavy applications like welding, sanding and die cutting. The variable type machines are used for smaller applications and lower speed grinding operations. As grinding is a continuous process, a higher speed is required to ensure higher quality output. High quality grinding machinery will provide consistent and reliable results without any degradation over the years. High quality grinding machines are used for quality control in industries like aerospace and automotive, for the production of parts for engines, transmissions and other automotive parts.

The quality control of grinding machine is also essential in the manufacturing of high technology equipment like aerospace equipment. Since the quality of the material is extremely important to the performance of the equipment, it is very crucial to follow proper quality control procedures before it is finally sold to a client.

The process of quality control is actually divided into three stages namely pre-grinding, post-grinding and post-furbishing. Pre-grinding refers to the initial assessment of the surface properties of the metal prior to it goes to the grinding machine.

Post-grinding refers to the post-grinding process after the material has been ground to the specifications of the machine. Post-furbishing involves the finishing operations such as lubrication, polishing, sanding and the final sanding of the metal after it is ready to be polished.
